Rest assured that every aspect of your wedding reception entertainment will be handled smoothly and professionally. And, above all, you, your family and your guests will have FUN! Planning Your Reception Entertainment I offer the finest professional wedding reception entertainment and master of ceremonies services at a reasonable price. For you, this is most likely the very first time, or one of the few times you've been involved in planning a wedding reception. There's so much to do, so many details to attend to. It can be overwhelming. Don't worry, you're in good hands. We can meet in person if you like and finalize plans in an hour. Because we all have very busy schedules, pre-wedding meetings are optional. Many of my customers take advantage of my offer to handle the planning by mail, email and phone. Once you've decided to book me for your event, I'll send you a contract along with a brief Wedding Reception Planner sheet and a letter that explains how I use the planner at the reception and how to fill it out. You already have most of the information, you just fill in the blanks. The front of the planner asks for such things as parents' names, grandparents' names, bridal party members, your first dance song, etc. The back of the page is optional. It's for listing any special announcements you'd like me to make (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) special requests and dedications. The completed planner should be returned to me two weeks before the event. There's no need to plan every song, however, I do appreciate any suggestions you're willing to provide in selecting the music so that I can be prepared. I program the selections with variety in mind so that there is music to please everyone. Please sign and return the contract to me along with your deposit check within two weeks of receiving it. I'll sign the contract and return a copy to you, acknowledging receipt of your deposit. The balance is due a week before the event. How long should the reception be? In almost every case, five hours is the most comfortable length of time for a wedding reception. Often, four hours is plenty, short and sweet. By that time, most people are ready to wrap things up, especially the bride and groom, for whom it has been a monumental day. If you choose four hours, I indicate on the contract that optional overtime is available. My time starts when the music starts and ends when the music ends. How do we spend our time at the reception? Your wedding reception will be unique. This is your day. You are the reason everyone has gathered together. As master of ceremonies, my most important responsibility is to handle the transitions between activities effectively and unobtrusively, so that you can relax and enjoy yourselves and your guests. It's my job to keep the party moving along. I work closely with you, the photographers and the caterers so that things go as smoothly as possible. The following progression of events is presented as a guideline. The exact content and sequence is up to you. During the cocktail hour, I play background instrumental music, most often small combos playing jazz and standards with recognizable melodies and extended improvisations. I perform all the master of ceremonies services, including the wedding party entrance and introducing the individuals who will give the blessing and the toast. I make any special announcements requested by the bride, the groom, their families and guests, and the banquet house management. During dinner, the background instrumental music continues with occasional vocal arrangements included. Usually, I play relaxing light jazz or classical music, so that guests can talk and dine comfortably. I program the music according to the flow of activities at the event. I'm ready at a moment's notice to head in the direction that seems most appropriate. That's the advantage of having an experienced wedding DJ at your service. After dinner come the ceremonies you've chosen; cake cutting, first dance, father-daughter dance, mother-son dance, etc. For the next hour or so, we get the guests up to dance and celebrate. Then, if you've specified, we do the bouquet and garter ceremony. At any time during the reception, I will make special announcements and play dedications for birthdays, anniversaries, and other surprises anyone can think of. The microphone is always open to anyone who wishes to address the gathering. Often the bride and groom like to come up to express their gratitude to the guests. At the end of the reception, I invite the bride and groom out to the dance floor and ask all the remaining guests to form a circle around them while they dance once again to their first dance song.
