Brett Wise is a self-taught photographer and graduate student of biblical studies at Lee University. He is known for his passionate and often short-lived enthusiasm for various hobbies (he was a wine connoisseur for roughly two months, before moving on to hot tea).
His affinity for making art out of the photographic image, though, has not evaporated, since his early teenage years, when Brett received his fatherâs old film camera.Traversing the woods of his home in rural Arkansas, Brett took photos of rusted chains and gnarled stumps. Nothing was too trivial or lowly to become art through the lens of his new found medium. He left the woods of Arkansas for college in Tennessee, but his camera-craze stayed with him.
From nights spent prowling the streets of Cleveland snapping cracks in the sidewalk and friends in crumbling laundromats, to evenings spent in downtown Chattanooga capturing newly engaged couples stroll across a bridge over the Tennessee River, Brett has refined his style and gained experience shooting a wide range of subjects. He enjoys photographing weddings, but is also happy roaming a new city, viewing it from behind his camera lens.
Brett plans to pursue photojournalism in the future and wants to travel the world taking pictures of people and change lives for the better. He lives in Cleveland, TN.
