In the ten years I have been an Inter-faith Minister and performing wedding ceremonies and vow renewals in the mid – to – South NJ area, I have found that even more couples are looking for a more personalized and spiritual ceremony, versus a traditional and very religious one.
Even many first time brides are opting for a beach ceremony, choosing to include the memories of their families at the shore over the years; or who find that the ocean and surroundings of nature are an important part of their lives and romantic times with their partner.
Even more extremely popular is the wedding that is all-inclusive within the reception site. This ends the hassle of lost guests from the church to the reception, lost time for the reception party itself, and ease of taking photographs in one location. I perform Love Ceremonies in over 45 locations, including places like the Carriage House in Galloway, the Trump Marina Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, the Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point, and the Congress Hall Hotel in Cape May. These are just a few examples of exceptional reception halls where I find the Bridal Consultant and their staffs extremely professional and knowledgeable. It’s so nice to see the bride and groom so happy, relaxed and enjoying their day because everything is so well planned and taken care of.
Civil Union ceremonies are just beginning to become popular at the shore in the past year, and I offer not only a beautiful, custom ceremony for the couple, but pre-union and marital counseling for all couples who are about to take their vows. As a psychotherapist who specializes in couples counseling and Relationship Coaching, I know the trigger points where couples often have issues – these are always best to discuss and have worked through before the ceremony; when the couple is very open and deeply in love – before the normal stresses occur in a couples life.
There are various ceremonies to choose from when forming a custom ceremony – very popular is the Sand Ceremony, using the Unity Candle, and having a Wine Ceremony; or a combination of any two. Also available is a garden ceremony, butterfly release, or an ocean ceremony. I am very open to the couples’ ideas – I feel it is their day, and I want to give them exactly what they are looking for in a wedding ceremony. I want to be the easiest part of their wedding planning; and the “calm and spiritual” portion of their wedding day.
In these traumatic times, many couples are choosing to do a Renewal of Vows ceremony, either after a major problem occurred in their marriage – or – to celebrate their Anniversary. The 10th Anniversary date is a popular time to do this. This ceremony often involves the children as well, and becomes a very special celebration and bonding for the entire family.
The biggest compliment is receiving a booking from a couple who has seen one of my custom ceremonies or saw me officiate at a friends wedding. When they hear the Love Ceremony, they say, “Yes, that is exactly what I want, and for Rev. Riana to deliver it!”
