Thinking about planning and managing your own event? Allow me to offer some advice ...DON'T DO IT!!!!
Take a moment right now and picture your event going perfectly. Now picture yourself at the event. What do you see yourself doing? Are you enjoying the event as well or are you carrying a cake from the kitchen? Are you socializing or rushing past important people to refill the ice bucket? Think about it. If it's your big event, you too should be enjoying yourself too.
Now imagine the same event. You're laughing with friends, you're relaxed, and you look over your friends shoulder to find your event planner instructing her staff to bring out the cake and re-fill the icebucket. You turn back to your friends and smile.
That my friend, is how to enjoy an event. Remember-when you use an event planner, everything will still play out exactly how you want it to. Why? Because you meet with your event planner in advance and share your vision with them. As the event nears, you meet again to re-state the plan.
An added bonus is that this is not your planners very first event, therefore, they know how to make things go smoothly. They understand the timing, and they know how to please their client.
I'm not an event planner, but I am a person who hired one. I am grateful I did. She made sure my event went smoothly, and quite frankly, made sure I was a little spoiled as well. I hope you will heed my advice, and look back on your big event with a smile.
